La Aurora Broadway

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that Alec Bradley was launching a new cigar line that would be exclusive to the New York market.    It looks like Alec Bradley is not the only ones doing this.   Miami Cigars’ has just announced the new “Broadway Line” that will be sold under the La Aurora brand.

The Broadway, like the Alec Bradley New York will only be available at New York Retailers.   As I mentioned in my Alec Bradley post, while this may disappoint many, this is a much needed jolt for New York tobacconists.  New York has been hit hard by high taxes and the city has to deal with the Pleasure Police General himself, Mayor Mike Bloomberg/New York could really use a jolt as this is still an important market – and a market that needs protection.   However, this could be a double-edged sword.  If these sticks are not home runs, they may end up sitting on the shelves – especially given the price points.

The Broadway looks promising.  Right now it will only be available in one Vitola  (5 3/4 x 54).  The blend features a double Ecuadorian Sumatra and Nicaraguan wrapper with a Dominican Corojo binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Peru.  The stick will be priced in the $12.00-$13.00 range  (including the NY State tax) and unlike the Alec Bradley, it is expected to hit shelves around year end, early next year.
