At the 2013 IPCPR Trade Show, La Aurora Cigars showcased the third installment of its Puro Vintage series – the La Aurora Puro Vintage 2005.

As the name indicates the tobaccos used in the Puro Vintage 2005 come from crops from 2005.  Since being harvested, the tobaccos have been harvesting for eight years.  The Puro Vintage 2005 follows the Puro Vintage 2003 and Puro Vintage 2004 releases- also featuring tobaccos harvested from those years.

For the first time in the Puro Vintage series, the Puro Vintage 2005 will feature a three country blend – including a wrapper from Cameroon, a double binder from Cameroon and Ecuador, and Dominican fillers.  According to Miami Cigar and Company (who distributes La Aurora in the U.S.) Assistant Director of Marketing Barry Stein the three country blend creates “a cigar with a lot more complexity”.

The vitola will be the same 6 1/2 x 52 salomon that was used on the Puro Vintage 2004.  It will carry a price point of $18.75.  Stein mentioned the care that goes into aging these premium tobaccos factors into the price point.

Stein says the release is currently being targeted for late August and early September.
