“2013 might go down as the “Year of the Maduro” as it has certainly be a banner year for them. The Ezra Zion Eminence holds its own among some of the best of them.”

#12 – Ezra Zion Eminence

Coming in at #12 on the 2013 Cigar of the Year countdown is the Ezra Zion Eminence.  This cigar became the third core line and first maduro released by Ezra Zion Cigar Company. This also was the company’s first non Nicaraguan puro.

The Eminence becomes Ezra Zion Cigar Company’s first appearance on the Cigar of the Year countdown.  This becomes the eighth maduro of 2013 to make the countdown.  It also becomes the third San Andres Maduro on this year’s countdown.  Finally to complete the stats, it gives  gives Gary Griffith’s House of Emilio (the company that distributes Ezra Zion), a fourth cigar on the countdown – easily leading the way in terms of distribution arms of what has been announced on the countdown.

This cigar is made by Casa Fernandez – whom I feel is one of the best in the business at working with San Andres as they get the most out of that wrapper without overpowering the blend. This cigar is an absolute flavor machine. I found the Ezra Zion Eminence to deliver notes of cocoa powder, rich chocolate, pepper, and cream. The flavors are medium to full-bodied while the strength is medium.
