“Erik Espinosa has done a great job re-energizing the 601 line this year – and this cigar (the Warhead) definitely helped contribute to this comeback. It’s a box worthy cigar in my book.”

#16 – 601 La Bomba Maduro Warhead by Espinosa Cigars

Coming in at #16 on the 2013 Cigar of the Year countdown is the 601 La Bomba Maduro Warhead by Espinosa Cigars.  The Warhead is a limited edition cigar that was released in 2013.

The Warhead becomes gives Espinosa Cigars its first appearance on a Cigar of the Year Countdown.  It marks the third Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper entry on this year’s countdown.  2013 is certainly looking like the year of the maduro as this is the sixth maduro to place on the countdown thus far.

The Warhead is an offshoot of the 601 La Bomba Nicaraguan puro, but with two differences.  First, La Bomba’s Nicaraguan Habano wrapper is replaced by a Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro;  Secondly, the Warhead was rolled as a box-press toro.

This is one outstanding tasting maduro.  This cigar provides a mix of coffee, chocolate, pepper, earth, and citrus.  This is a bold and powerful cigar as it delivers a full strength, full-bodied cigar experience. In my opinion, the Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper combined with the box-pressing elevated a great blend to a higher level.
