“E.P. Carrillo continues to take things to the next level as the E.P. Carrillo Short Run 2013 is another home run. When it comes to working with Ecuadorian Sumatra wrappers, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo might be the true master in this area.”

#9 – E.P. Carrillo Short Run 2013

Coming in at #9 on the 2013 Cigar of the Year countdown is the E.P. Carrillo Short Run 2013.  The Short Run series is a limited production run cigar with a different blend each year.  The Short Run 2013 marks the fourth installment of this series.

The Short Run 2013 gives E.P. Carrillo a position on the countdown for the fourth consecutive year, and third consecutive year in the Top 10.  It is the first Short Run to make to make the countdown since the Short Run 2010 made the list in 2010.  2013 has also proven to be a big year for Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper cigars, but surprisingly Short Run 2013 is the first Sumatra wrapper to make the list this year.

Without a doubt, this was one of the best installments of the Short Run series to date.  The flavors consist of wood, orange spice, caramel, and a combination of pepper and exotic spices.  The smoking experience was loaded with lots of flavor nuances and flavor transitions.  The flavors are medium to full-bodied countered by medium to full strength.
