The Villiger 1888 Especiales is a limited edition cigar that was launched by Villiger at the 2014 IPCPR Trade Show.  The Villiger 1888 line pays homage to the year Jean Villiger founded Villiger Sons Limited,.  When Villiger North America President Roy MacLaren joined Villiger, he began focusing on the company’s premium cigar business.  While new brands such as TrillCuellar, and Cabarete Maduro have shown the MacLaren and his team’s forward thinking, MacLaren has continued to honor the company’s rich history as demonstrated last year with the Villiger 125 and now this year with the Villiger 1888 Especiales.
The Villiger 1888 Especiales is slotted for an initial run of 10,000 cigars.  It is being made at the ABAM factory in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic led by Jose Matias Maragota.  Villiger and Maragota have a long history together.  This factory produces the Villiger 1888 line as well as other products for Villiger.
The Villiger 1888 Especiales joins line extensions to Trill and Cabarete Maduro and the release of the  Tobajara to the U.S. market as the company’s IPCPR 2014 launches.
