Two years ago, Joya de Nicaragua released called the Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinco Edicion Limitada to commemorate the company’s 45th anniversary. The cigar was a one-time limited edition of  4,500 boxes. This year, a new off-shoot of the Cuatro Cinco is making its debut. This will feature a new blend, four new sizes and will be an on-going small batch release. The new cigar is called the Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinco Reserva Especial.  The initial batch is slated to ship later this month, and it is expected to be showcased at the 2015 IPCPR Trade Show.

The cigar will feature a modified blend. Unlike the original Cuatro Cinco, the Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinco Reserva Especial will not be a Nicaraguan puro. While it features a Jalapa wrapper and Nicaraguan fillers, the Reserva Especial will incorporate a Dominican volado binder.

The Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinco Reserva Especial will feature Nicaraguan fillers that are aged in oak barrels. Joya de Nicaragua has also said the original Cuatro Cinco utilized barrel aged tobaccos as well.

There will be four new sizes unveiled for the Joya de Nicaragua Cuatro Cinco Reserva Especial. Each will be soft box-pressed like the original Cuatro Cinco. The sizes will be: Toro (6 ¼ x 50), Torpedo (6 x 52), Doble Robusto (5 x 56), and a Petit Corona (4 ½ x 46). Each of the four sizes will be packaged in ten count boxes. The original Cuatro Cinco was a 6 x 54 Toro.

The bands will be slightly modified featuring the words “Reserva Especial” on the band and more of an emphasis on silver.

Announcing the cigar on the Joya de Nicaragua web-site, Dr. Alejandro Martinez Cuenca, Chairman of Joya de Nicaragua said: “this blend is a superb milestone for our factory. It’s a cigar worthy of lighting to celebrate your own extraordinary achievements and special moments.”

The initial shipments will go to selected accounts that are a part of Drew Estate’s Drew Diplomat program. After the 2015 IPCPR, it will be made available to all Drew Diplomat retailers. Drew Estate is the U.S. distributor of Joya de Nicaragua.
