“This one is not only one of the best cigars I had in 2015, but it could be the best ‘A’ size cigar I have ever smoked.”

Review: Debonaire 33rd Maduro (De Los Reyes)
Brand Appearances on Countdown: 2 (20142015)

Coming in at #2 is the Debonaire 33rd Maduro. This is the second consecutive year the Debonaire Maduro has landed on the Countdown as it placed #4 last year. This year, the new 9 x 50 limited edition “A” size known as the 33rd lands on the Countdown.

This marks the second consecutive year Debonaire has landed on the Countdown. It also is the second cigar from Debonaire on this year’s Countdown (joining Indian Motorcycle Habano Robusto). This also becomes the first “A” vitola ever to make the Countdown – and is the longest cigar ever to be on a Cigar Coop Countdown measuring 9 inches.

The 33rd refers to the highest rank of the free-masons. The Debonaire 33rd Maduro uses the same recipe as the Maduro line has used – Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, Dominican binder, and a combination of Dominican and Nicaragua filler. The blend is optimized into the massive 9 x 50 vitola.

This monster sized cigar is going to deliver plenty of flavor and with lots of transitions and flavor nuances. Along the way, this cigar produced notes of mocha, earth, cedar spice, and white pepper. The mocha notes deliver both a rich chocolate and black coffee component. There is also a creamy component that smooths things along the way. This is an “A” vitola that is flavorful right until the end and doesn’t run out of steam. This will be a little more dialed back for the Debonaire Maduro blend as it starts out medium in strength and body because progressing to medium to full in the second half.

This is perhaps the finest cigar made by Debonaire, and it could rank as one of the all time “A” size vitolas. It’s an Oasis level cigar and one worthy of being the #2 Cigar of the Year.
