De Los Reyes Cigars has a new line coming to its Saga brand. Today the company announced it is launching a series called “Saga: the Short Tales”. The line follows a literary theme, complete with packaging looking like a classic style novel. The first cigar in this series is called “Tales of High Priming”. Plans are for the Saga Short Tales line to be showcased at the 2016 IPCPR Trade Show in Las Vegas, with “Tales of High Priming” being soft-launched to select account prior to the show.

The company provided a press statement announcing Saga Short Tales:

Introducing a new series in the De los Reyes Cigars SAGA: the Short Tales.

The first release of the series is a 4 X 58 short Robusto named Tales of High Priming
This powerful cigar showcases a dark Nicaragua wrapper , with a selection of high priming leaves from Dominican Republic and the USA.

This full body beauty starts with a peppery kick to get your attention, and develops onto an array of flavors that will keep you captive for way longer than its looks would have you foresee.

Another great addition to the SAGA, and one more demonstration of the “savoir-faire” of the De los Reyes six generations of tobacco affairs.

In addition to a Nicaraguan wrapper, Tales of High Priming uses an Indonesian binder and a filler consisting of U.S. Connecticut Broadleaf and Reyes-grown Dominican tobaccos, including Negrito. The filler incorporates high priming corona tobacco leaf resulting in a strong cigar. Given corona is a high priming leaf, it is a leaf that gets the most sunlight and nutrients, so it tends to produce a fuller strength, fuller-bodied cigar.

The cigar itself is produced at the De Los Reyes factory in the Dominican Republic.

While Tales of High Priming is a short 4 x 58 smoke, Louis told Cigar Coop that since this is a powerful cigar, it is not a cigar recommended to be smoked quickly.

As mentioned the packaging is designed in the form of a classic novel – complete with a “story” of the cigar included. Given it is the first blend in the series, Tales of High Priming is dubbed Tomo I – meaning Volume 1.

De Los Reyes Brand Ambassador Jean-Michel Louis plans on visiting U.S.accounts in the near future to personally introduce the new product to them.

Saga Short Tales joins the Saga Blend No. 7 and Saga Golden Age as offerings under the Saga brand. De Los Reyes also produces the Don Julio brand. The factory also is the home to Debonaire House cigars and Patoro.
