Familia Rodriguez Tobaccos, the company owned by Ryan Rodriguez and his father Frank have announced its newest line, the Ohana Pulse. The Ohana Pulse will have both a Natural (Habana) and Maduro offering. Plans are for the Pulse to showcased the the 2016 IPCPR and start making their way to retailers in August, 2016.

The name “Ohana” is Hawaiian for family and Pulse keeps to the brand’s theme. In a press release announcing the Pulse, Ryan Rodriguez explained, “Ohana is about family and friends and Pulse carries on with this belief. With every heartbeat, every pulse, our family and friends are the lifeblood of our existence. We are deeply humbled and honored by the support we have received in these first two years and now we honor you with Pulse.”

For the Ohana Pulse line, Rodriguez will be partnering with a new factory, Tabacalera NOA (New Order of the Ages), the facility owned by Noel Rojas and Brandon Hayes.

The Ohana Pulse Natural will feature an Ecuadorian Habana wrapper and a Nicaraguan binder and filler featuring tobaccos from Condega, Jalapa, and Ometepe. The cigar will be available in two sizes, a robusto and a toro. The first production is being limited to 5,000 cigars, but the plans are to make this an on-going blend.

“This cigar is completely different from our other cigars and we believe you will find it to be unlike anything currently on the market, which is a bold statement considering all the great cigars out there, and wonderful blends. We also decided to go with a format that Noel has been doing a lot lately and we love, which is an old way of using a closed foot and pigtail,” commented Rodriguez.

Meanwhile the Ohana Pulse Maduro will follow. The use the same blend, but will be available in three box-pressed sees: robusto, toro, and a 6 x 60 toro grande. These cigars will also feature a closed foot.

Ohana Pulse joins the Ohana M13, The First Generation Line, and The Friends and Family Line in the company’s portfolio. To achieve a higher level of quality, the company focuses on small batch production.
