The Whiskey Rebellion Continues….. Online retailer Famous Smoke Shop has announced, RoMa Craft Tobac’s Intemperance Whiskey Rebellion 1794 cigar is returning.  This time, it will be an ongoing five size line that will be exclusive to Famous Smoke Shop. Plans are for the cigar to be showcased at the 2016 IPCPR Trade Show with the cigars shipping in early August.

The line pays homage to the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794. It was in 1791 when the first tax on any product was imposed by the United States federal government on whiskey. When farmers in Western Pennsylvania protested the team, this led to the Whiskey Rebellion of 1794.

The Intemperance Whiskey Rebellion 1794 (WR-1794) cigar made its debut earlier this month as an exclusive cigar for the Cigar Dojo community, distributed by Famous Smoke Shop. The cigar sold out in hours when pre-orders when made available to the Cigar Dojo community.  There are five sizes: Hamilton (4 x 46), Jefferson (4 1/2  x 52), McFarlane (5 x 50 Perfecto) Bradford (5 x 56), and Washington (5 1/2 x 54). All of the sizes will now be available in 24 count boxes with the exception of Hamilton which will be available in 30 count boxes. The blend remains the same as for the Dojo release. According to Martin, the 5 x 50 Robusto was a size made exclusively to the Dojo community and will never be repeated.

In a press release announcing the WR-1794 line, RoMa Craft Tobac Owner Skip Martin said, “Our forefathers believed the Whiskey Tax to be illegal, under the idea that there was no local representation,” said Martin, “and they stood their ground. What this cigar represents to me, then, is that when faced with tyrannous taxes and regulations — we must resist.” It’s his nod to how Hamilton’s tax resulted in conflict between citizens and law enforcement, when 500 armed men in Western Pennsylvania rose up in dissent; Washington called militias from the surrounding States to quell the rebellion, though no violence erupted.”

Martin also added, “but the message that these Whiskey Rebellion patriots sent, was received.” (Eventually the Whiskey Tax was repealed by President Thomas Jefferson after it proved to be difficult to enforce).

Famous Smoke Shop Copywriter & Cigar Advisor Jonathan Detore said, “All of us here are extremely excited about taking on this incredible line of cigars. The smoke is bold and flavorful, with a profile that will appeal to many cigar smokers. With so much history behind this cigar, especially in the state of Pennsylvania where our company is based, we are especially proud to make this a long-term addition to our wide selection of premium cigars.”

Famous Smoke Shop will have the link to its web-site posted after IPCPR for pre-orders. Once the link is posted, it will be found here.

Pricing $6.15 to $8.00 per cigar.
