Cigar Aficionado printed an article today on a new limited edition My Father Cigar dedicated to the fallen heroes of the 9/11 tragedy. The cigar is called the My Father Commemorative 911 by Jaime Garcia Blend 343 10th Anniversary.

As a part of this release, $40.00 from the sale of each box will go toward a designated charity of the fallen heroes of 9/11.

The project is a joint effort between My Father Cigars and Casa de Montecristo in Chicago.  The idea was suggested by Jeffrey Holst, a firefighter Battalion Chief out of Lombard, Illinois.  Hoist contacted Casa de Montecristo and the rest is history.

Only 343 boxes of 20 are being produced for this release (to commemorate the 343 fallen firefighters), so it will be extremely limited.  A unique concept will be introduced in that it will feature two different blends packaged in the same box.  Nine cigars will feature an Ecuadorian Habano Rosado wrapper and the other 11 will feature a Nicaraguan Oscuro Oscuro wrapper (this is the same wrapper used on the My Father Le Bijou 1922).

Blend Profile

There are two different blends included in each box:

The “9” cigars:
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: 96 Corojo
Filler: “Secret” Fillers

The “11” cigars:
Wrapper: Nicaraguan Oscuro Oscuro
Binder: “Secret” Binders
Filler: “Secret” Fillers

Vitolas Available

All of the cigars included in the package are a 5 1/2 x 54 Toro.

Pre-orders for this cigar are being accepted at http://www.911cigars.com, but will also be available at Casa de Montecristo. The boxes will retail for $199.95 with $40.00 going to the charity.  Cigar Aficionado reports the cigar to arrive at Casa de Montecristo on 9/27.  This is another great example of the cigar indusry stepping up.
