#19: Casa Magna Domus Magnus

As we progress into the Top 20 of the 2011 Cigar of the Year Countdown, we now have our second Epic Encounter with the Quesada family.

Coming in at #19 is the Casa Magna Domus Magnus. This Epic Encounter marks the third blend in the Casa Magna line of cigars. It is another collaboration between Manuel Quesada and the Plasencia family. It represents a totally new blend in the line.  The Domus Magnus is a box-press cigar that will be sold in boxes of ten and it a small pig-tail on the cap.  It is intended to be a limited production cigar. The cigar will be sold in boxes of 10.   The plan is for 100,000 cigars to be produced (in other words 10,000 boxes).

The flavor profile provided a unique sweetness that I had not tasted in the cigar.  The sweetness had notes of citrus and something that almost had “Pez” candy qualities to it. There were also flavors of cocoa, cedar, floral, cocoa, and even tea notes.  The flavors are full-bodied and balance nicely against the medium to full strength delivered by this cigar.  While occasionally the burn needed some extra touch-ups, overall these burned very well.
