#21: Emilio AF2

For this epic encounter, it might be considered a surprise by some.   It combines a piece of Nicaragua, a piece of Ecaudor, and even a piece of Pennsylvania. It comes from a newcomer in terms of cigar brands, but from some very experienced hands in the industry.

Coming in at #21 is the Emilio AF2.  Emilio Cigars comes from Gary Griffith of Delaware Cigars.   Griffith is a Certified Retail Tobacconist who oversees the operations for the Delaware Cigars franchise.  Griffith then went on to launch Emilio Cigars.  For one of the lines,  Griffith teamed up with superstar blender to create the “Emilio AF-Serie”.   There are two cigars in this line, the AF1 and AF2.  Obviously the AF2 represents the second blend in this series.

With an Ecuadorian Habano Oscuro wrapper, and Nicaraguan fillers that include some Pennsylvania Ligero in the blend, the Emilio AF2 has one of the more unique blends on the market.  The AF2 is going to deliver a lot in terms of spice. From a flavor standpoint, the AF2 is loaded with complexity.  Throughout the smoke, much of the spice had an exotic (yet non-infused) spice feel.  There were also notes of pepper and sugar cane.  I could even detect slight hints of coffee, cream, and cinnamon in the background.  The burn and draw of the AF2 are outstanding.  Overall, it’s a well-balanced medium-strength and medium to full-bodied smoke.
