A few weeks ago, Cigar Aficionado reported that Room 101 Cigars was planning a late 2012 limited production release called the Room 101 Daruma.  Since then, the February 21st edition of Cigar Insider has released additional information about this release.  The Room 101 Daruma should mark the sixth blend in brand owner Matt Booth’s Room 101 line.

The name Daruma continues the theme of Japanese culture that was started with the Room 101 Namakubi.  Daruma is the Japanese name for the Buddhist monk Bodhidharma – considered to be the father of what is known as Zen Buddhism.

The cigar is described as medium to full-bodied.  Here is the preliminary information that is known:

Blend Profile

The initial blend seems to move away from the Honduran dominated blends of many of the previous Room 101 releases.

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Habano
Binder: Brazilian
Filler: Honduran and Dominican

Vitolas Available

Here are the 5 vitolas in the Daruma:

Monstro: 5 x 50

We will continue to follow this story throughout 2012.
