Tatuaje Old Man and the C 2012 – Private Reserve (Black Label)

At the 2012 IPCPR Trade Show, Tatuaje Cigars unveiled its 2012 edition of the Tatuaje Old Man and the C.   This year’s release is based on the Tatuaje Private Reserve blend (better known as the Tatuaje Black Label)

The Tatuaje Old Man and the C is a set that comes in a coffin-style box.  It consists of a lancero and a culebra vitola.  Culebra is a style of cigars that was started in Cuba that involves typing three “twisted” vitolas together.  It is believed this started because rollers in Cuba were limited to taking one cigar home a day and the Culebra was a way to skirt the rules.

The Old Man and the C is a reference to known cigar enthusiast Ernest Hemingway.  The name is a spin on Hemingway’s novel “The Old Man and the Sea”.

The 2011 version was based off the Tatuaje El Triunfador Original Blend which used a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper.

Blend Profile

The Tatuaje Black Label is an all-Nicaraguan puro.  The Sun-Grown
Criollo wrapper has a toothy appearance much like cigars from the
“island” famous for making cigars.
