Earlier this year, Gurkha Cigar Group acquired the Pedro Martin trademark as Martin Family of Cigars shutdown operations.  Maria Martin, President of Martin Family of Cigars joined the Gurkha team and plans went underway to begin the integration process of her portfolio.  This process has begun as Gurkha has now launched the Pedro Martin line.  The first official release is the long awaited Pedro Martin Limited Edition 2012.

The Pedro Martin Limited Edition 2012 was first mentioned by Cigar Insider/Cigar Aficionado earlier this year.  A significant difference on what Gurkha is announcing versus what the report is around age of the wrapper (Gurkha is now saying 9 years versus the original 7 year report).

According to a recent news release by Gurkha, the blend was created by the late Pedro Martin.  The cigar is being made under the supervision of Arsenio Ramos at Tabasa Esteli Nicaragua.

The cigar is now listed on Gurkha’s web-site under a Pedro Martin brand.  It is described as: “a strong and full-bodied cigar that has hints of sweet spice, milk chocolate, and roasted nuts with a long earthy finished. It is rich and sweet with lots of aroma. This wonderful Pedro Martin cigar is one that a true cigar enthusiast will appreciate. Only five hundred 15-count boxes were made in the Toro, 6×54 Vitola.”

Plans are also underway to further integrate various blends, including the Ruby and Maduro (M) blends.  At a glance here is a look at the Pedro Martin Limited Edition.
