As we have been following for quite a while now, Quesada Cigars will be releasing a cigar to commemorate Manuel Quesada’s 40 years in the cigar business.  The cigar was created by Quesada’s daughters Patricia and Raquel as a tribute to their father.  The company has recently announced details around the release.

There will be six vitolas in the line, with two of the five being special limited edition sizes, and another being and a third limited edition of a different blend that will be available to only select retailers.

The two limited editions will be a 6 x 49 box-pressed toro and a 6 3/4 x 50/33 salomon box-press.  Both of these cigars were floating around the 2014 ProCigar Festival in the Dominican Republic.  As we reported on the salomon box-press, this is a most unique vitola.  In a press release by Quesada, this is salmon that is box pressed only in the center – creating what Quesada Cigars describes as a “long valley in the middle of the cigar”.  According to Quesada Cigars, “the shape symbolizes the geography of the fertile Cibao Valley of the Dominican Republic, which lies between the mountain ranges of the Cordillera Septentrional and the Cordillera Central on the north and south respectively.  The region represents the heart of the Dominican cigar industry.”

The third limited edition which will go to select retailers  will be a 6 1/2 x 46 Corona Clasica.  As mentioned, this cigar will be a different blend and was created by Manuel Quesada himself.

“The 40th anniversary cigar celebrates my father’s dedication and passion for the tobacco industry, and a special way to commemorate the consistency in quality that has characterized his cigars year after year. It is an opportunity for us to cherish his achievements, and at the same time look forward to adding more chapters to a story that began many years ago,” said Patricia Quesada.

Terence Reilly added, “The Quesada 40th Anniversary is intended to capture the very essence of our company: the synthesis of tradition and innovation.  Originality does not spring from thin air but rather is the result of reinterpreting and building upon what has been accomplished.  Consequently, it is only by embracing the past and using our knowledge of tobacco that has been handed down through generations that we will be able to create innovative blends and sizes.  The Quesada 40th is the best expression of this goal to date.”
