La Sirena Original (2014) – Prince

La Sirena Cigars has unveiled its new blend for its La Sirena Original line.  A new blend for this cigar was made when production of this cigar was moved from the My Father Cigars factory to Erik Espinosa’s La Zona factory.  The new La Sirena Original blend was showcased at the 2014 IPCPR Trade Show.

When we spoke to company President Arielle Ditkowich at the 2014 IPCPR Trade Show, she explained the changes that were made.

“There was (original blend) three ligeros in the filler, we took out one and added what Erik calls his ‘magic leaf’.  What that does is it rounds out the cigar.  It’s not so much spicy on the tip of your tongue, but it has spice throughout now. It (the new cigar) has a longer finish,” commented Ditkowich.

The wrapper to the La Sirena Original will also be changing. Ditkowich explained, “The other thing we did that the original line had a Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper while our limited production A’s and Dubloons had a Habano wrapper.  Now the entire the entire line is a Nicaraguan Habano which in turn makes it a Nicaraguan puro”

As far as Connecticut Broadleaf, it is not totally out of the picture, “When we do our limited production in the spring with a special size, that will have a Connecticut Broadleaf”   The details of what that special size are still to be determined.  The original Connecticut Broadleaf release of La Sirena started a soft launch in late 2010 and finished as our #2 Cigar of the Year for 201

The La Sirena Original will still be available in the same five regular production sizes.  Ditkowich said the “A” has been sold out and it is to be determined if that size.

The boxes will change from the Treasure Chest sizes to a flat top box.  This will allow retailers to stack the boxes – which was something that could not be done with the chest boxes.

In addition to the the re-launch of the La Sirena Original, the company rolled out its new Oceano line and showcased the recently acquired Old School Cigars’ blends.
