“Overall, this cigar is definitely a winner and easily moves to the top of the ranks of Torano Family Cigar releases.”

Torano-Exodus-Finite-2013

Coming in at #11 is the Torano Exodus 1959 Finite 2013. Back in September, it was announced that General Cigar Company had purchased the brands of Torano Family Cigars.  As a result, this technically can be considered General Cigar’s second entry on the 2014 Countdown.  On the other hand, if one is still looking at the Torano brand, this marks the third time Torano has qualified for the Countdown since its inception – and first placement since 2011.  It also marks the highest ranking Torano cigar in the history of the Countdown.  Finally, this cigar becomes the fifth Nicaraguan puro on this year’s countdown.

The Torano Exodus 1959 Finite 2013 is the fourth installment of Torano Family Cigars’ Exodus line. As the name implies (i.e. “Finite”), this is a limited production cigar (i.e. only 75,000 cigars will be produced). The Finite 2013 becomes the first new cigar in this line in nearly four years. It is also the first Nicaraguan puro in the line – taking tobaccos from four growing regions of Nicaragua (Esteli, Jalapa, Condega, and Ometepe).

The cigar is highlighted by a raisin sweetness that morphs into a dry wine flavor in the second half. There are also notes of pepper, coffee, earth, even a grainy-like flavor. These flavors all very much have a “tobacco feel” to it. The flavors are robust and full-bodied. There is a little bit of kick to this cigar as I thought it was medium to full in strength.

While there are questions ahead on what lies for Torano, this cigar stands on its own merit.  This cigar is a home run for Torano – and one of the best cigars the company has produced.
