2015 is the 80th anniversary of the Montecristo brand, thus Montecristo has been a big focus of the 2015 IPCPR Trade Show for Atladis USA. At the Trade Show, Atladis unveiled a new limited edition line extension of the Espada by Montecristo called Estoque. Estoque features an all-new blend and is scheduled to be released in August.

It was one year ago when Altadis launched the Espada by Montecristo line. The Espada is not only the first Nicaraguan puro, but it is the first Montecristo made in Nicaragua. It also was the first of the collaboration projects that Altadis has been doing with other manufacturers. For the Espada, the famed Grupo de Maestros team (Altadis’ most skilled cigar makers) worked with the team at the Plasencia factory.

Like the Espada line, the Estoque is a Nicaraguan puro. The difference is that Estoque is a very different blend than Espada. Estoque has much more of a Criollo influence. The blend features a Nicaraguan Cuban Seed Viso Jalapa Vintage 2013 wrapper. The binder is a Nicaraguan Criollo Seco Jalapa Vintage 2002 leaf and the fillers consist of Nicaraguan Corojo Seco Esteli Vintage 2009, Nicaraguan Criollo Viso Ometepe Vintage 2013, and Nicaraguan Criollo Viso Condega Vintage 2013.

The cigar comes in one size – a 6 x 50 torpedo. It will be packaged in ten count leather boxes. A total of 5,000 boxes will be produced. Each cigar will have an SRP of $14.50.

The term Estoque refers to a flat and elegantly shaped sword used by the Spanish Matadors in bullfighting.

2015 is a busy year for the Montecristo brand.  In addition to the Estoque, Altadis is releasing the Montecristo 80th AnniversaryMontecristo White Vintage Connecticut, and the Montecristo White Series No. 4 line extension.
