Feature of the Week: E.P. Carrillo Short Run 2016 Announced
Cigar Aficionado broke the news this past week around the details of the E.P. Carrillo Short Run 2016. This is the seventh installment of this annual limited production series. This year’s edition features a new blend, a single size, and a new look.
News and Previews
- Cornelius & Anthony: The company announced its second project for 2016, the Cornelius & Anthony Daddy Mac. This is a cigar being made at Erik Espinosa’s La Zona factory.
- Cusano: Details around the Cusano Dominican Maduro were released this week. This is the second release in what is becoming a revamping of Davidoff’s Cusano brand.
- E.P. Carrillo: A fifth size is being added to the E.P. Carrillo INCH Maduro line in the form of a 8 x 58. The company is also releasing an exclusive cigar for Federal Cigar’s 95th anniversary.
- El Primer Mundo: The company has added a Corona Gorda size to its Liga Miami line called Liga Miami Gloria.
- Viaje: The company has released 2016 editions of itsViaje Zombie, Zombie Antidote, and Zombie Super Shot.
- Viva Republica: The company has launched a new small batch line called Cloak & Dagger Series – the first release is a candela called Ojos Verdes.
Legislative News
- Senate Bill S. 441: S. 441 is the Senate Bill to gain an exemption from the FDA on premium cigars. This week, no new co-sponsors were added. The total sponsor count remains at 21.
- House Bill HR 662: H.R. 662 is House Bill to gain an exemption from the FDA on premium cigars. This week no new co-sponors signed on. The total number of sponsors remains at 162.
- House Bill 2058: H.R. 2058 is the House Bill to change the effective date for cigars subject to FDA regulation from 2007 to 21 months following any proposed regulations are put into effect. This week, no new co-sponsors signed on The total number of sponsors remains at 52.
- California: Tobacco lobbyists are still stalling the sweeping anti-tobacco bill from being sent to Governor Jerry Brown. This includes raising the state’s smoking age to 21.
- Nebraska: A proposed tobacco tax increased was rejected by the Revenue Committee.
