The Cosecha 146, a cigar that was showcased at the 2017 IPCPR Trade Show, is now heading to U.S.-based retailers. The Cosecha 146 is the first cigar in Plasencia Cigars’ Cosecha series.

Cosecha means “harvest” and Cosecha 146 release pays homage to the 146th harvest of the Plasencias (2011-12) and it uses tobaccos from Honduras and Nicaragua from that crop. These are the countries where the Plasencias grow the majority of their tobacco.

“We are delighted to announce that Cosecha 146 has been officially introduced to the U.S. market and is now getting into the hands of our loyal consumers,” said Nestor Plasencia, CEO of Plasencia Cigars in a press release. “Cosecha 146 is our first cigar to be introduced from our Cosecha series, which was created to commemorate the Plasencia family’s first-ever tobacco harvest in 1865 in Cuba. This cigar, like those in the Alma series, is made with the immense passion from our rich family heritage,” added Plasencia.

The cigars are available in five sizes: La Musica (5 x 50, Robusto), La Vega (5 1/4 x 52, Robusto Gordo), San Luis (5 3;/4 x 54, Toro), San Agustin (6 1/4, x 52 Torpedo), and Monte Carlo (6 x 58, Gordo). The cigars are packaged in 20-count boxes

According to Plasencia Cigars, they are in the process of aging additional tobaccos as part of the Cosecha series, and these will be introduced in the coming years.

Plasencia Cigars is a brand owned by the Plasencia family. The Plasencias are best known for having 150 plus years experience in growing tobacco and producing cigars. Over the past year, they have brought a brand with their name to market. They have also established a U.S. distribution company, Plasencia 1865 LLC, to bring the product to market.
