Maya Selva Cigars has a new limited release for Asia. The company’s new 2018 Year of the Dog release not only pays homage to the Chinese New Year, but pays homage to the ancient Mayans, who inhibited Honduras – the country where Maya Selva Cigars are produced.

The 2018 Year of the Dog is branded under the Flor de Selva name. The packaging features a dog paw on the box. According to the company:

The dog paw design on our box is reminiscent of the Mayan hieroglyphics. The fauna of the ancient Maya have proven to play a significant part of their iconography. For Mayans, every person had an animal companion who shared their soul and could eventually transform into their animal companion.

The blend of the 2018 Year of the Dog features a Habano wrapper from Honduras, a Nicaraguan binder from Jalapa and a combination of Nicaraguan and Honduran filler tobaccos.

The cigar is available in one size – a 5 5/16 x 52 (150 mm x 52) Toro. It is available in ten-count boxes. Each box is individually numbered and 2018 boxes have been produced. The company has already sold out this year’s allocation, but is planning for a larger one in 2018.

Year of the Dog by Maya Selva Cigars

The Year of the Dog has been a popular release globally in the cigar industry. Davidoff has released its Year of the Dog 2018 Limited Edition as a part of its annual Chinese Zodiac release. Meanwhile, Altadis is planning a Year of the Dog release for the European market under the VegaFina brand.
