Davidoff Seleccion 702 Limited Edition 2009 - Box

As a part of the brand’s 50th anniversary, today Davidoff has announced the return of the Davidoff Selección 702 Limited Edition 2009. As the name indicates, this is a cigar that was last released back in 2009.

The Davidoff Selección 702 Limited Edition 2009 derives its name from the “702” wrapper that covers the cigar. This is a Habano wrapper grown in Ecuador exclusively for Davidoff. It originates from Finca San Juan in the Ecuadorian province of Cotopaxi. In addition to the 702 wrapper, the Davidoff Selección 702 Limited Edition features a San Vincente binder, and a combination of San Vincente, Piloto Cuban, and Olor tobaccos. The cigar is available in one size – a 6 5/8 x 48 Toro Especial. A total of 2,000 boxes will be produced.

The Davidoff Selección 702 Limited Edition will make its return to the U.S. market in May.

Last year, when Davidoff announced the Davidoff 702 Series, numerous cigar media outlets mistakenly reported this as the return of the Selección 702. The only common denominator with the Selección 702 and the 702 Series was the 702 wrapper. Basically, the 702 Series took the Ecuadorian-grown wrapper and applied it to some existing Davidoff White Label blends. Davidoff has also used the 702 wrapper on several limited edition releases as well as the Davidoff, Zino, and AVO brands.
