Coming in at #17 is the Casa Cuevas Connecticut. This was one of three cigars launched by Casa Cuevas Cigars in 2017.

Casa Cuevas Cigars is the brand owned by the father and son team of Luis Cuevas Sr. and his son Luis Cuevas Jr. The Cuevas family are not newcomers to the cigar industry. The Cuevas family has been involved in the cigar business for four generations. Luis and Luis Jr. operate a factory out of the Dominican Republic called Tabacalera Las Lavas. This factory has made cigars for brands such as Gurkha, Toraño, and Leccia Tobacco. The family eventually decided to come to market with a brand of their own and Casa Cuevas Cigars was launched. The Casa Cuevas Connecticut was one of three blends launched when the brand hit the market in 2017.

For Casa Cuevas, it marks the first time the company has landed a Cigar Coop Countdown with a brand of its own.

The Casa Cuevas Connecticut is highlighted by an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and a combination of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The size that lands on this year’s Countdown is a classic 6 x 50 Toro.

Flavor-wise the Casa Cuevas Connecticut Toro delivers notes of cream, natural tobacco, cedar, classic wood, and a strawberry-like sweetness. The Casa Cuevas Connecticut is not going to be an overpowering cigar, but one that delivers an experience that is mild to medium in both strength and body.

While many Connecticut Shade Cigars have tried to push the boundaries past medium for strength and body, the Casa Cuevas Connecticut keeps it in the traditional mild to medium range. This works very well with the overall experience of the Casa Cuevas Connecticut. The past couple of years has been very competitive in the Connecticut Shade market and the Casa Cuevas Connecticut Toro stands among the best released.
