Prior to the 2019 IPCPR Trade Show, Altadis U.S.A. announced it was releasing a cigar to celebrate 50 years of the Tabacalera de Garcia family under the Montecristo brand known as Cincuenta.  At the Trade Show itself, the Montecristo Cincuenta was center stage.

To commemorate the occasion, Altadis turned to Elle Bleu to create a commemorative 100-count humidor. According to Altadis, the humidor is made using a method called marquetry, placing individual and shaped pieces of wood together. A total of 75 humidors were produced – each containing 100 Montecristo Cincuenta cigars in a 6 1/4 x 54 No. 2 figurado size. Lucrecia Valdez, known as the Queen of Tabacalera de Garcia, participated in making the Cincuenta No. 2 cigars. Valdez has 40 years experience in the factory and now serves as the master roller supervisor for each employee on the Tabacalera de Garcia floor.

Pricing for the big-ticket Montecristo Cincuenta Humidor with 100 cigars is set at $10,000.00 per unit.

With the high-priced, low availability of the Montecristo Cincuenta humidor set, Altadis is also making a version of the Cincuenta available in ten-count boxes featuring a 6 x 50 Toro size. A total of 8,000 boxes were produced and pricing is set at $35.00 per cigar or $350.00 per box.

The blend was constructed by Altadis’ famed Grupo de Maestros team and consists of an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper over a Dominican binder and Nicaraguan filler.

The Tabacalera de Garcia factory is one of the largest factories in the world.

The Montecristo Cincuenta Humidor units are scheduled to ship this month with the ten-count boxes coming in August.
