Last year came word that Rocky Patel Premium Cigars would take over as the official cigar of the World Cigar Smoking Championship. At TPE 2020,  Rocky Patel launched that cigar to general availability in the U.S. market.

Rocky Patel replaces the Macanudo Inspirado (Orange) Mareva, a 5 1/8 x 42 Petit Corona that had been the cigar used in the Wold Cigar Smoking Championships for several years. Prior to that, the Montecristo No. 4 – also a Petit Corona was used.

The difference from the prior cigars used in the competition is that Rocky Patel developed this cigar specifically for the world championships as opposed to having an existing cigar used as the competition cigar.

The Rocky Patel Cigar Smoking World Championship uses a San Andres wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and a combination of Honduran and Nicaraguan fillers. The 5 1/8 x 42 Mareva will be a part of the line but Rocky Patel is also introducing a 5 x 50 Robusto and a 6 x 52 Toro. The Mareva will be presented in 10-count boxes while the other sizes will be presented in 20-count boxes. Production Is handled in Nicaragua at Patel’s TAVICUSA factory.

The Cigar Smoking World Championship is a competition that involves who can smoke a Mareva-size cigar the longest without re-lighting the cigar. The 2020 competition is the 11th edition. A series of qualifying tournaments are held worldwide with the finals held in Split, Croatia from August 28 – August 30, 2020.
