“The Villiger Cuellar Black Forest Toro Gordo is an excellent release by Villiger and by Tabacalera Palma. While it’s not overpowering in terms of strength and body there’s still a richness to the flavors and this worked quite well with this release.”

Appearances on Countdown (By Year/Company): 2 (2018, 2020)

Coming in at #27 is the Villiger Cuellar Black Forest Toro Gordo. Cuellar is a brand introduced by Villiger back in 2014 with the Villiger Cuéllar Connecticut Krēmē. In 2019, Villiger would introduce its second blend under Cuellar in the form of a maduro box-pressed line with the Villiger Cuellar Black Forest.

Like the Cuéllar Connecticut Krēmē, Villiger Cuellar Black Forest is produced out of Jochy Blanco’s Tabacalera Palma in the Dominican Republic. The Cuellar Black Forest incorporates a San Andres Maduro wrapper over a blend of all-Dominican tobaccos. It’s available in four sizes with the Toro Gordo measuring at 6 x 54.

The Villiger Cuellar Black Forest Toro Gordo delivered a mix of mocha (coffee/chocolate fusion), citrus, white pepper, cedar, and classic wood. This is not an overpowering cigar. The flavors delivered are medium body. As for the strength, the Cuellar Black Forest Toro Gordo starts out mild to medium before progressing to medium in the second half.

The Villiger Cuellar Black Forest Toro Gordo marks the second time Villiger has landed on the Cigar Coop Countdown. In terms of selections unveiled thus far, this is the first box-press to make the list in 2020.
