In this cigar conversation from the 2012 IPCPR Trade Show, I talk with Dan Tiant, founder and CEO of the Tiant Cigar Group.

Dan has been in the cigar business for several years.  Last year, Dan formed a new LLC called Tiant Cigar Group. This company is actually a new company formed by the Tiants replacing
the old El Tiante Cigars company..  The cigars that were launched are
new blends as well.

In this conversation, Dan gives us some background about the company, and takes us through the company’s two current choices, the El Tiante Habano Rosado and El Tiante Habano Oscuro.   These cigars are blended at the My Father Cigars’ factory in Esteli, Nicaragua by the Garcias.  Dan explains how he got to know the Garcias through Pete Johnson of Tatuaje.  At the same time, Dan’s father, Luis Tiant (former MLB pitcher and a true Hall of Famer who does have a cameo in this conversation) forged a friendship.

In our discussion on industry trends, Dan takes us through the role of social media and how that has helped the boutique industry.   Finally, Dan gives us some news that we can expect to see more from his company over the next 12 months.
