Cigar News: Nat Sherman Adds Super Lancero to Timeless Collection, 1930, and Sterling Lines

Nat Sherman has announced it is adding a line extension to three of its lines. This line extension comes in the form of a Super Lancero measuring 8 x 38. The three lines that will receive this new frontmark are the Timeless Collection (Dominican), Nat Sherman 1930 Collection, and the Nat Sherman Sterling. Information on this announcement was made in a press release by the company.

The Super Lancero has a length 1/2 inch longer than a traditional 7 1/2 x 38 lancero. In the press release announcing the Super Lanceros Michael Herklots, Executive Director of Retail Brand Development, Nat Sherman International said, “The lancero format is an extremely elegant size, allowing the smoke’s flavor to remain focused, without incorporating as much air into the smoke as larger ring gauges do. The extra length of the cigar gives greater opportunity for the experience and flavors to change and develop from start to finish, while keeping the smoke cooler longer.”

William Sherman, Executive Vice President of Nat Sherman also was quoted in the press release as saying, “The Super Lanceros are manufactured in limited quantities at The Quesada Factory (formerly known as MATASA) in Licey, Dominican Republic, just outside of Santiago. Only one team of rollers is tasked with making this coveted size. Small ring gauges are among the hardest vitolas to make, as it’s very easy to under-fill or over-fill. We have one expert team in the factory that is carefully bunching and rolling these cigars to ensure they’ll draw and burn perfectly.”

We noted a teaser in the March 16th, 2013 Cigar Week Wrap in which Herklots posted a picture on his instagram account of the Timeless Collection Super Lancero. There were no further details elaborated on at that time.

The Super Lanceros will be packaged ten per box. At a glance, let’s look at the three lines that contain the Super Lancero. As mentioned above, the Super Lanceros will be limited production. ;No specific production numbers were disclosed.
