In what is a definite change of direction for Fratello Cigars, the company has announced it is bringing back a brand called La Floridan. This is a brand that was manufactured in Tampa, Florida and can be traced back to 1909. The cigar will be launched this month through ABC Fine Wine and Spirits. Production is set at 12,000 cigars.
“I find historical cigar brands fascinating. I try to put myself in the shoes of the mastermind behind this 100-year-old brand and its intended connection to its target market,” said Omar de Frias of Fratello Cigars in a press release. The press release goes on to say that Fratello intends to further highlight the long history of tobacco in Florida.
The cigar features a Cameroon wrapper grown in Ecuador over a Dominican binder and a combination of Brazilian, Dominican, and Nicaraguan fillers. Production comes from the La Aurora factor in the Dominican Republic. The cigars will come in one size – a 6 x 52 presented in 20-count boxes. Pricing is set at $9.99 per cigar.
“La Floridan is a full-flavored cigar with a medium body profile that is layered and complex.” added de Frias.
“We are excited to collaborate with Fratello on the production of La Floridan. The cigar will fit right in with our clientele and our history,” said Chris Gwaltney of ABC Fine Wine and Spirits.
In addition, Fratello Cigars will join ABC Fine Wine and Spirits and donate a portion of the proceeds to support the United Cerebral Palsy of Central Florida.
