A massive fire broke out in the early evening hours of May 17 at one of Arturo Fuente’s warehouses. The damage appears to have taken down a warehouse housing tobacco and it is estimated approximately one million pounds of tobacco may have been lost.
The fire took place at Warehouse #3 located in Palmar Abajo Villa González, municipality of Santiago. Firefighters were able to put out the fire, but not before significant damage was done. Back in August 2011, a different Arturo Fuente warehouse was destroyed in the Villa González area.
“Everyone is ok. Thank God,” said Carlito Fuente in a message to Cigar Coop. As for the tobacco, Fuente described it as a “massive loss of irreplaceable aged tobacco.”
