At the 2023 Premium Cigar Association (PCA) Trade Show, Rocky Patel Premium Cigars showcased a new cigar known as Dark Star. It’s a cigar produced out of Honduras, but it also incorporates filler tobaccos from Paraguay.

While the cigars at the Trade Show say “Nicaragua” on the band, the blend is actually a Honduran-forward blend. It uses a Honduran Corojo wrapper over a Honduran binder and a combination of Honduran and Paraguayan tobaccos. While this is not the first cigar to feature tobacco from Paraguay, it is one of the very few.  Production comes from the El Paraiso factory in Honduras.

Dark Star is available in four sizes: Short Star (4 x 60, SRP $11.25.cigar), Robusto (5 x 50, SRP $10.50/cigar), Toro (6 x 52, SRP $11.50/cigar), and Sixty (6 x 60, SRP $12.50/cigar).

The company says plans are to ship Dark Star in October.
