At the 2024 Premium Cigar Association Trade Show, My Father Cigars showcased the Fonseca MX Edition, a new blend under its Fonseca brand.
MX Edition stands for Mexico Edition. The cigar gets its name from its Mexican San Andres Oscuro wrapper. The remainder of the blend features all Nicaraguan tobaccos. Packaged in 20-count boxes, the Fonseca MX Edition is available in four sizes: Robusto, Toro, Toro Grande, and Cedros. The line is produced at the My Father Cigars factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
The Fonseca brand traces its roots back to Cuba, where Don Francisco Fonseca established it in 1892. A Dominican version of the Fonseca brand has been made by the Quesada family since 1974. In 2019, the Quesadas sold the Fonseca brand to the Garcia family, the owners of My Father Cigars. Since the Garcias have acquired Fonseca, they have set out to make their own interpretation of the brand. The MX Edition is the second release since the Garcias acquired the brand. My Father released its first Fonseca in 2020.
