Next month, E.P. Carrillo is bringing back the Pledge of Allegiance for 2024. It was at PCA 2024 that Cigar Coop learned the Pledge of Allegiance was returning.
In a press release announcing the Pledge of Allegiance 2024, Ernesto Perez-Carrillo said, “The Pledge of Allegiance 2024 is not just a cigar. It’s a representation of the American Dream that I had the privilege to live. This special blend has been crafted with a vision—to create a smoke that honors the journey every American, whether born in the USA or an immigrant, has taken or is still on. Last year’s reception to the release inspired me to relaunch a 2024 edition. So many people reached out and wrote to me to share their own stories about America—this is what Pledge of Allegiance 2024 stands for.”
The E.P. Carrillo Pledge of Allegiance was first released in 2023. It is also the first limited-edition installment of the Perez-Carrillo series. The name comes from the third and fourth installments of the Perez-Carrilo line, the Pledge and Allegiance, respectively. The idea for the name came from former E.P. Carrillo Chief Operating Officer Salim Hanono. While the name is a mashup of the Pledge and Allegiance names, the blend is entirely different as it emphasizes incorporating American Tobaccos, given the name of the cigar and the use of the American Tobaccos.
The packaging (except for the year), blend, and size for the 2024 release are the same as the 2023 release. The Pledge of Allegiance features a U.S. Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper. Pledge of Allegiance uses two different (undisclosed) American tobaccos, along with Nicaraguan and Dominican tobacco, in the filler. In addition, the blend utilizes an Ecuadorian binder. Production comes from Perez-Carrillo’s Casa Carrillo factory in the Dominican Republic. The cigar comes in one size – a 6 x 54 box-pressed Toro priced at $22.00 SRP/cigar. A total of 1,776 individually numbered ten-count boxes have been produced.
