Lure Cigars Co LLC is releasing The Evil Weevil, a shop exclusive to Boll Weevil Fine Cigars in Enterprise, AL.

The Evil Weevil name refers to the infamous boll weevil pest. In the early 1900s, the boll weevil devastated cotton crops across the South, impacting many farmers. By 1909, the destruction had reached Enterprise, Alabama, severely impacting cotton yields. H.M. Sessions, a seed broker, saw an opportunity to introduce peanut cultivation to the area. Local farmers who switched to planting peanuts earned more money than they had with cotton. This success prompted other farmers to make the switch, transforming the region into a leading peanut producer by 1919. The boll weevil’s devastation led to crop diversification in Enterprise, prompting the town to erect a series of statues in its honor to recognize how this little pest inspired big innovation and adaptability.

The blend features a Habano 2000 wrapper over binder tobacco from Ometepe. The filler comprises tobaccos from Estelí, Jalapa, and ligero from Ometepe. These are packed in ten-count bundles. The Petit Corona is priced at $7.75 SRP, while the Corona is priced at $8.50 per cigar. Each is presented in ten-count packs, and both sizes are limited to 400 cigars.
