Fábrica de Tabacos Raíces Cubanas S. de R.L., the acclaimed factory in Honduras, has announced it is launching a new cigar brand. Raíces Cubanas was founded on May 3, 2003, by Romay Endemaño, his wife Maria (Lipa), and their son Hugo. Now, Hugo is teaming up with Ralph Montero (best known for his partnership with Alec Bradley) to introduce you to new lines coming out of the factory. These lines are: Clásico, Liga de Reyes, C5 Black (Corte Cinco), and GRD3 (GRanD3).
The brand has set up offices out of Doral, Florida, and is currently shipping.
Clásico
Raíces Cubanas Clásico is described as a mild to medium offering. It is presented in 21-count boxes and available in five sizes:
- Robusto: 5 x 50
- Toro: 6 x 52
- Figurado: 5 3/16 x 54
- Churchill: 7 x 50
- Gordo: 6 x 60
Liga de Reyes
Raíces Cubanas Liga de Reyes is a cigar that was blended by Montero and described as a cigar on the fuller side. This cigar incorporates seven different tobaccos. It is presented in 21-count boxes and available in five sizes:
- Robusto: 5 x 50
- Belicoso: 5 1/2 x 52
- Toro: 6 x 54
- Churchill: 7 x 50
- Gordo: 6 x 60
C5 Black
The Raíces Cubanas C5 Black (Corte Cinco) is meant to be a throwback to the original strong cigars introduced in the early 2000s. C5 Black draws its name and inspiration from “el Corte Cinco,” which refers to the fifth priming. This is when the last and uppermost leaves, known for their rich, full-bodied character, are harvested from the plant. It is also positioned as a fuller cigar. It is presented in 21-count boxes and available in five sizes:
- Robusto: 5 x 52
- Toro: 6 x 52
- Belicoso: 5 1/2 x 52
- Gordo: 6 x 60
- Double Toro: 6 1/2 x 56
GRD3
Finally, the Raíces Cubanas GRD3 is a medium-bodied offering focused on large ring gauge cigars. It comes in three sizes presented in21-count boxes:
- 460: 4 x 60
- 660: 6 x 60
- 770: 7 x 70
It’s not the first time Raíces Cubanas has had its own cigar brand. In 2013, the factory released the Raíces Cubanas 1941, which Alec Bradley distributed. Montero partnered with Alec Bradley, which was sold to Scandinavian Tobacco Group in 2023.
