“(Davidoff’s) Chinese Zodiac series is becoming on the all-time annual limited edition series ever released and the Year of the Sheep keeps to the level of excellence this series has established.”
Coming in at #13 is the Davidoff Year of the Sheep Limited Edition 2015. This is the third installment in Davidoff’s series that pays tribute to the Chinese Zodiac. All three releases have qualified for the Countdown. On last year’s countdown 2014’s Year of the Horse took the #17 spot while 2013’s Year of the Snake took the #2 spot. This marks the second year in a row that Davidoff has made the Countdown. Davidoff also joins Tatuaje and Viaje as companies with two entries on this year’s Countdown.
Each installment of this series introduces a new blend in a different cigars that is limited production. For the Davidoff Year of the Sheep, the frontmark selected was a belicoso. The blend features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper (the third cigar with this wrapper to make this year’s countdown), Davidoff’s famed proprietary Yamasá region binder, and a mix of Dominican fillers. The cigar is limited production with only 3,000 boxes of eight produced.
The one thing that stands out with the Year of the Sheep is that this one is going to have a classic Davidoff profile flavor-wise, yet will still have its own differentiating factors. This delivers notes of natural tobacco, cedar, black pepper, and grass. There also is a very unique nougat-like sweetness on this cigar. The flavors are fuller and the cigar is stronger than most Davidoff’s – medium to full in strength and very full-bodied.
The price point is steep as it comes in at $35.00, but this cigar delivers an excellent all-around smoke and worthy of something special.
