Avo Limited Edition 2010 – 2010 Cigar of the Year

Cigar Coop Hall of Fame
Inductee Name: Avo Limited Edition 2010 (Avo LE 10)
Inductee Category: Cigar (Automatic Selection – 2010 Cigar of the Year)
Inductee Year: 2011

For each year’s induction of cigars, the Cigar of the Year selected by me will qualify for automatic induction.

The year 2010 seemed to be dominated by Nicaraguan tobacco, yet this cigar does not contain any.   It has a very familiar Ecuadorian Sun-Grown wrapper, a Mexican binder, and Dominican all-Ligero fillers.  The combination of these tobaccos make up for a full strength and full bodied smoke.  This is more atypical for Avos which are usually are medium/medium.   Yes this cigar has some power, but not at the expense of the flavor.

The flavors are outstanding –  cherries, earth, cocoa, espresso, and spice (baker’s spice and cedar). The draw and burn were perfect each time I had this stick.  I’ve heard some people say there was too much glue on the band, but I have not encountered that problem to date.  This isn’t your typical Avo flavor profile – that’s for sure.

Construction is top-notch – everything you would expect from a Cigar of the Year.

Blend Profile

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Sun-Grown
Binder: Mexican Sumatra Seed
Filler: Dominican – all Ligero

Vitolas Available

The Avo LE10 was made in a single vitola – which is par for the Avo Limited Edition series.  For the 2010 edition, they opt for something called the “Super Robusto” – a 5.5 x 55 vitola.
