E.P. Carrillo NWC Short Run 2012

E.P. Carrillo is getting ready to launch their 2012 entry to the
“Short Run” series.  This cigar will be called the E.P. Carrillo NWC
Short Run 2012.   This is good news for E.P. Carrillo fans as there was some word last year that there would not be a Short Run 2012.  For the 2012 offering, E.P. Carrillo switches gears a
bit and borrows a couple of things from their core line offerings.

As implied by the name, “Short Run” implies
limited edition – meaning the cigar is meant to be produced in a limited
batch on a yearly basis.  In 2010, E.P. Carrillo launched the inaugural “Short Run”, the E.P. Carrillo Short Run 2010 (our #15 cigar for 2010).  This was followed up a year later by the E.P. Carrillo Short Run 2011.  In both cases, these were blends built from the ground up.

Blend Profile

For those who are not aware,  E.P. Carrillo New Wave Connecticut is where the NWC comes from.
This was a core line that was launched by E.P. Carrillo in 2011 and was
very successful (this was our #30 cigar for 2011).  With the success of
the New Wave Connecticut, E.P. Carrillo decided to leverage the
Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper that was used on that cigar for the 2012
Short Run.

Another core line that was introduced was the E.P. Carrillo Core Line Maduro.  This cigar was also widely successful and placed #8 on our 2011 Cigar of the Year Countdown.   Tobaccos from this blend were
incorporated into the binder and filler of this cigar.  The most interesting thing is the use of the Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper from the Core Line Maduro as the binder on the NWC Short Run 2012.

Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut (wrapper from the E.P. Carrillo New Wave Connecticut)
Binder: Connecticut Broadleaf (wrapper from the E.P. Carrillo Core Line Maduro)
Filler: Nicaraguan, Dominican (filler from the E.P. Carrillo Core Line Maduro)
