Coming in at #19 in our 2012 Cigar of the Year Countdown is the Tatuaje Cojonu 2012 Habano.  This cigar is part of three cigars of the Tatuaje Cojonu 2012 line.  The Cojonu line was introduced in 2003 and subsequent line additions were done every three years after that.  The Cojonu 2012 was different in that it was the first of the Cojonu releases to offer multiple wrapper option.  These options were: an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper version (Tatuaje Cojonu 2012 Capa Especial), a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper version (Tatuaje Cojonu 2012 Reserva), and the Ecuadorian Habano option.  It is the Ecuadorian Habano option that was launched at the 2012 IPCPR Trade Show (following the launch of the Capa Especial and Reserva additions).  It is also the Ecuadorian Habano option that lands a spot in our countdown.

The Tatuaje Cojonu 2012 Habano version marks the third consecutive year that Tatuaje has landed a spot in our Cigar of the Year countdown.  The Cojonu 2012 Habano is the first entry on the 2012 countdown for Tatuaje.  It also marks the fourth cigar from the My Father Cigar factory on this year’s countdown.  Finally, perhaps the most interesting stat is that this is the first natural Ecuadorian Habano wrapper to make the countdown this year.  This is amazing considering the dominance of this wrapper in 2012.

The Tatuaje Cojonu Habano 2012 provides a wide variety of flavors – including: coffee, lemon citrus, pepper, chocolate, raw caramel, and grass.  The flavors are not overpowering as they are medium in body. The strength to this cigar is not overpowering either as it also is medium in strength.  There is good balance between the strength and body.  The close to this cigar is excellent as it is very smooth.

The cigar also has outstanding construction.  This is reflected in the Cojonu 2012 Habano’s excellent burn and draw.
