Joya de Nicaragua S.A. today made official some changes to its executive staff. These changes coincide with the company’s 45th anniversary and are aimed at continuing their plan for international expansion.
The announcement made official that Juan Ignacio Martinez, the son of Dr. Alejandro Martinez Cuenca has been elected by the Board of Directors as the Executive President of Joya de Nicaragua. In a visit we made to the Joya de Nicaragua factory back in May, we reported that this transition had taken place. Martinez will be responsible for the overall day to day management in production and marketing. He has already been on-board with the company for the past six years. During that time he focused on organizational strengthening, investments, and relationships with key partners. Dr. Cuenca will continue as Chairman and CEO of Joya de Nicaragua.
The Board also named Ivan Gutierrez to be the Deputy Marketing Director. He will work closely with Mario Perez, the Sales and Marketing Director for Joya de Nicaragua. Guitierrez had previously worked as Joya’s Brand Manager in the United States and played a key role in the company’s relationship with its U.S. Distributor, Drew Estate.
Finally, Carlos Zuniga has been named as the Creative Director. He will play a role in Joya de Nicaragua’s new international marketing strategy and will be responsible for shephering the company’s image worldwide. The announcement described his role will bring “youth and creativity to the brand’s identity”. Zuniga has ten years of experience as a creative director with one of Nicaragua’s top advertising agencies and is an avid cigar enthusiast.
