Ramon Zapata Perez, one of the founders of Compania Hondurena de Tabacos has announced he is leaving the company. Zapata made the announcement on his Facebook page this past Friday. Zapata indicated this was a voluntary departure and that the company would continue in operation without him.
Compania Hondurena de Tabacos (CHT) stands for “Honduran Tobacco Company”. The company operates a factory in Danli, Honduras and primarily was distributed in the European market. In 2013, Kuuts LLC was formed as a distribution arm for CHT products in the U.S. market. One of those products is the Tabacalera Zapata product, named for Zapata. The factory has 98 pairs of workers and the capacity to produce 6 million cigars per year.
