For the 2015 IPCPR Trade Show, much of the new releases for Duran Cigars have focused around line extensions and the Azan line is no exception. Today the company announced that the three blends of the Azan line will each receive a new vitola. The Azan Premium White line will see the addition of the the 6 1/2 x 52 Toro de Luxe. The Azan Burgundy line has a the 5 7/8 x 52 Toro added to it. Finally, the Azan Maduro Natural line will see the addition of the 5 x 58 Supremo.
Azan was the first line released by Duran Cigars. It is actually the name of an old Cuban line that was resurrected by the company in 2013. The roots behind the Azan are most interesting. The original Cuban brand was actually founded by a group of Chinese immigrants back in 1928. Kwan Ben Sen (known as Domingo Azan) with his brothers started making handmade cigars in Manicaragua, Cuba (located in the province of Villa Clara). The original Cuban Azan brand utilized what Duran Cigars calls “traditional Oriental dedication and focus, and a strike of good fortune”. When the brand was relaunched, Domingo Azan’s great granddaughter Maria Isabel Alvarez Azan as a part of the team.
As the name indicates, the Azan Premium White is the Azan line’s premium offering. The Azan Burgundy is the value priced offering. The Azan Maduro Natural features a “natural maduro wrapper” that Tgoes through a 22 month processing cycle.
