In a year-end communication from the International Premium Cigar and Pipe Retailers (IPCPR) Government Affairs Team, it was revealed that a court date for the lawsuit filed by the cigar industry’s trade associations against the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been scheduled for July 28, 2017. The lawsuit challenges the Deeming Regulations implemented by the FDA on the premium cigar industry.
July 28, 2017 is the date where Oral Arguments are scheduled to take place at the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. This will provide both the plaintiff and defendant an opportunity to present their arguments on why each should prevail in the lawsuit.
IPCPR, along with the Cigar Association of America (CAA), and Cigar Rights of America (CRA) filed the lawsuit against the FDA back on July 14, 2016.
