La Gloria Cubana has announced a new limited edition cigar known as the La Gloria Cubana Society Cigar. It’s a cigar that has had input from the La Gloria Cubana Society social club, a group of smokers that interact with the brand online through the La Gloria Cubana website and offline through La Gloria Cubana activities nationwide. The cigar is expected to hit stores in August.
According to La Gloria Cubana, members of the La Gloria Cubana Society were consulted on the profile, packaging and size of the cigar in a collaborative process that spanned almost a year.
The La Gloria Cubana Society cigar is a Honduran puro with an Olancho San Agustin wrapper, Jamastran binder, and fillers from Jamastran and La Estrada. It comes in one size – a 6 1/4 x 54 box-pressed Toro. It is presented in 20-count boxes with a total of 2,500 boxes produced. Production comes from the El Credito Cigar Factory, a standalone galera located within General Cigar Dominicana in the Dominican Republic. Pricing is set at $8.99.
“It’s been a pleasure to harness the Society’s passion for La Gloria and it’s an honor to provide them with a cigar that reflects what the brand represents to them. We look forward to collaborating with this great group of tenured smokers on future releases,” said Steve Abbot, director of marketing for La Gloria Cubana in a press release.
La Gloria Cubana is distributed by Forged Cigar Company. This is the second community-driven project from Scandinavian Tobacco Group (STG). Earlier this year, Punch Cigars released Syndicate: Punch The People’s Champ, a cigar done in conjunction with Punch Brotherhood.

The old (late 1990’s) E.P. Carrillo La Glorias are part of what made me fall in love with premium cigars. I recentlly visited the shop that is in the old El Credito factory on Calle Ocho in Little Habana. Great store with amazing history!
I am skeptical of the General-produced La Glorias, but the box looks gorgeous. I do love how the galera where these are rolled is called El Credito. I hope that these cigars are half as nice as the box!
