Dissident Cigars has added a new line extension to its Dissident Rave line, the Dissident Rave Non Box-Pressed.

The Non Box-Pressed name tells exactly what it is – it is not box-pressed. It is a rounded vitola. The Non Box-Pressed measures 5 x 50. It joins the Dissident Rave Box-Pressed (5 1/2 x 52), which was the #1 Cigar of the Year on El Oso Fumar.

The blend for the Non Box-Pressed is consistent with its box-pressed sibling. It consists of an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over an Ecuadorian binder and fillers from Nicaragua, Pennsylvania, and the Dominican Republic. Production comes from Fabrica Oveja Negra. Distribution is handled by Oveja Negra brands. Pricing is set at $11.50 per cigar.

“The original Rave (5 1/2 x 52 BP) has always been a fan favorite, but to the new cigar smoker, the Rave 5 1/2 x 52 showed itself as a little too intimidating on the shelf to be an entry level cigar. In fact, Dissident’s entire line of cigars is more tailored to a seasoned smoker, so we felt it was important to introduce a cigar that welcomed the newcomers a bit more. After much debate, we felt the Rave deserved to make itself known as a smaller vitola as well, satiating the need for a cigar that everyone, including new cigar smokers, could enjoy,” commented Dissident owner Cynn Coburn in a press release.
