At the Total Product Expo (TPE) 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Freud Cigar Company will launch its second regular production line, AlterEgo. Details of the announcement were first reported by Cigar Aficionado.
Freud Cigar Company pays homage to Dr. Sigmund Freud, the Austrian doctor who is the father of psychoanalysis and a renowned cigar smoker. Alter Ego is defined as an alternative self, which is believed to be distinct from a person’s normal or true original personality. Dr. Freud would often reference instances of dual consciousness throughout his work, particularly with his thesis on the Unconscious.
As for the cigar AlterEgo (one word), it will be Freud Cigar Company’s first Mexican San Andres wrapper offering. In addition to the Mexican wrapper, the cigar features an Indonesian Sumatra binder and all-Dominican filler that includes Pelo de Corojo, Corojo, Piloto Cubano, and Havana ’92. The cigars will come in three sizes: Robusto (5 x 50), Toro (6 x 52), and Lonsdale (6 1/2 x 43). Each will be presented in ten-count boxes and Cigar Aficionado reported the pricing between $25.00 and $28.00.
Production for AlterEgo is coming from Eladio Diaz’s Tabacalera Diaz Cabrera. Diaz also blended Freud Cigar Company’s first limited edition cigar, Agape.
TPE 2023 opens on February 22, 2023, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The cigars will reportedly be shipped in March 2023.
