Crowned Heads has announced its fifth limited edition line extension to the Mil Días line, the Mil Días Marranitos E648 LE 2023.
Like the Mil Días Marranitos 2022 edition, the Mil Días Marranitos E648 LE 2023 features the same Nicaraguan binder and fillers from Nicaragua, Costa Rica, and Peru. The difference is the 2022 edition was a 5 3/4 x 52 vitola. The 2023 edition is a 6 1/8 x 48 parejo.
The cigar is being produced at TacaNicsa by Eradio Pichardo. TacaNicsa is Pichardo’s factory operation and is the rebranded name for Tabacalera Pichardo. When this past fall, Crowned Heads and ACE Prime announced they had dissolved their strategic partnership, ACE Prime rebranded as Luciano Cigars and moved its production out of the Pichardo factory to a new facility known as Luciano Cigars. During this process, there were questions about where Mil Días would be produced. It appears Crowned Heads will continue to work with Eradio Pichardo, but now at his new TacaNicsa operation.
“Marranitos E648 is a nod to the man behind Mil Días, Eradio Pichardo,” explained Crowned Heads co-founder, Jon Huber. “I had another Marranitos release on the docket for 2023, and I asked Eradio what his favorite vitola was, which turned out to be a classic 6 1/8 x 48. Unfortunately, the second half of last year saw a lot of misconceptions and confusion surrounding the Mil Dias brand, and as a result, we intentionally took our foot off the gas on expanding the line. The Mil Dias Marranitos E648 is our way of saying that Mil Dias is not changing, and that we are excited to continue working with Eradio Pichardo and his team at TacaNicsa.”
A total of 2,500 12-count boxes (30,000 cigars) are being produced. Each cigar is priced at $12.50 SRP Crowned Heads expects products to ship in April.
